Thanks for leaving this thoughtful comment. I think the main issue is that people aren't willing to let their opinions be challenged by someone, partially because they think they are always in the right. Sometimes I think trying to change someone's political opinion is a waste of time but then again, I can't just say nothing when someone makes a racist joke. I think it's important to have conversations with people who are willing to discuss specific issues rather than forcing them onto people :)
