I've been vegetarian for 6 years now. What started as a New Year's resolution in 2015, quickly turned into a lifestyle that I can't quit anymore. Personally, I don't believe that it's harder to get your iron from plants because my doctor said that I was lacking in iron even though I was still eating meat back then. However, I do believe that it requires you to be more creative when it comes to meal prep and that seems to be the main issue for most people.

While I can't see myself going back to eating meat ever again, I totally agree that people shouldn't be shamed if they decide to eat meat again. During these 6 years, I'd occasionally eaten fish but like twice a year and people always tried to drag me into discussions about how I wasn't a vegetarian but a pescatarian, trying to shame me. It was ridiculous because these people didn't to anything to improve animal welfare or environmental issues.

That being said, I think there are many different ways when it comes to saving the planet. Someone could eat meat but decide to only buy second hand clothing or furniture. Maybe they also try to reduce their plastic waste. We all do our part and we do it differently. There's not necessarily a better or a worse way to doing our part.
